As the child of a Sensei I always felt challenged to be fit, healthy and to compete. This became a passion that led me to pursuing a career in the fitness industry, which eventually took the passion out of fitness for me and left me wanting something different for my personal fitness. This led me to running! Starting off wasn’t easy - running endurance was worlds apart from functional fitness. But after entering my first 5km trail parkrun I was hooked. Today I can say I’ve conquered the Jonkershoek and Muizenberg mountain trails, run numerous half marathons and a marathon, and I have the Two Oceans Marathon in sight. I love the outdoors and the freedom that comes with it.
- Running the Sanlam CT Marathon 1 year after starting my running journey (2019)
- Weskus Half Marathon 2019
- The 2019 Jonkershoek 24km trail race (JMC)
- Numerous top 3 placements at national Karate competitions as a junior
Not only is this an amazing opportunity to challenge myself, it is an even more rewarding experience being able to contribute towards an initiative in this way. The preservation and conservation of our wildlife is of utmost importance, as our wildlife is part of our identity as South Africans. The terrible nature of Rhino poaching and the endangerment of the Bearded Vulture, is not something that everyone has an opportunity to effect change for, and the Rhino Peak Challenge provides us – me – with the chance to make an impact.
