Splashy Fen Owner and International Rugby Referee
Stu started refereeing at the age of 18 while at Hillcrest High School. He rose through the ranks of rugby in South Africa and joined the SA Rugby Union in 2002. He is currently the longest serving referee on SA Rugby’s panels (17 years). He made is Super Rugby debut in 2012 (Cheetahs v Western Force) having refereed 34 SR games to date, Test Debut in 2013 (New Zealand vs Japan) having refereed 9 test matches to date, and has recently made the move to European Rugby, and in doing so appointed to referee the 2018 final between Leinster and Scarlets at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. Stu is also the part owner of Splashy Fen Music Festival, a proud southern Drakensberg event that attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiast from across South Africa and internationally to the Splashy Fen farm, very close to Rhino peak.
